This Thanksgiving I am most Thankful for Dillinger Escape Plan’s..
[Wea/Relapse; 2007]
Ire Works, one of the top albums of the year, emerges as Dillinger Escape Plan’s most genre bending and innovative albums. After losing a core member and drummer, Chris Pennie, to a mediocre and half as talented band, Coheed and Cambria; Greg Puciato, Liam Wilson, Ben Weiman, Brian Benoit and replacement drummer, Gil Sharone of Stolen babies, continue the path to solidifying themselves as a band that refuses to lack integrity in a genre of music that is consuming itself; post punk and hardcore.

The 2004 release of Miss Machine split many fans between the true hardcore driven songs and the experimental side of the group. With Ire Works, however, there is no room to argue that DEP could care less about a solid fan base and more about creating franticly abrasive quality music. They continue with breaks that are more reminiscent of Art Blakey mixed with Squarepusher than the typical post-hardcore rhythms. The guitarist, Weiman and Benoit offer original and atmospheric melodies while vocalist, Puciato, stands out among the provocative rhythm section and compliments them much like a spastic and abrasive John Coltrane among his quintet.
Track highlights include, Slick on Sunday, 82588, Milk Lizard (sounds how a Bronx song should sound like), and Horse Hunter. With tracks such as 82588 and Horse Hunter, it is almost certain that Ire Works will become an instant classic. Dillinger Escape Plan cannot do wrong..And they back it up by writing music that is both complex and effective. Check it yo..
