"I’ve always thought Erykah Badu looked like a really cool human being, but I never really liked her music. I’ve always wanted to, though, because I want to associate cool sounding music with a cool looking person. I kind of like this single, but I’m not sure I can trust myself. Maybe my urge to like Erykah Badu has overridden my critical faculties. Somebody else decide."
dex says – Trust your instincts, Ryan. This one is good.
This Sunday, December 2nd, KUCR and the Associated Students will sponsor the Sultans of Satire: Middle Eastern Comic Relief at UC Riverside’s University Theatre. The Sultans are Middle Eastern comedians on a mission—peace through laughter. This unique show consists of young American comedians of Arab, Iranian, Jewish, Armenian, Turkish and Greek heritage in uproarious sets of stand-up comedy.
The Sultans had an acclaimed eight-month run at the World Famous Laugh Factory on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip and just sold out 1,200 seats at USC. They now bring their cutting-edge comedy to UC Riverside — American comedians with all these different Middle Eastern backgrounds, each with their own sense of humor, breaking down barriers and getting the message across that everybody really can get along. The comedy is fresh, funny and raucous — and definitely for a college-age and up audience. For more information, tickets and comedian videos, visit sultansofsatire.com or levantinecenter.org.

Did you know that every Thursday from noon to 1 pm, you can count on hearing at least 1 hour of brilliant music, for free?
That’s right. Each and every Thursday (okay, not Thanksgiving, but you get the idea), one or more of your favorite KUCR DJs will be dropping the hot tracks right in front of the Belltower. That’s like ten bajillion watts of punk, techno, indie, hip-hop, psychobilly, and Scotty knows what else for the price of, uh, zero.
So next Thursday, be on the lookout and listenout for our beautiful new tent and our beautiful new sounds. We’ll even be posting upcoming DJ spots on the site, so you’ll know what you’re in for as you trek towards the Commons in search of new aural satisfaction.
