HEAT 2009
The main line-up for UCR HEAT 2009 has been announced! N*E*R*D brings the funk as top headliner this year with all members present (Pharrell, Chase Chad, Shay). With the recent release of their hit record “Seeing Sounds,” they’ve toured internationally and filmed the unforgettable bathroom music video “Everyone Nose.” Even if you dont know it, you’ve probably seen and heard Pharrell’s work with Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Ludacris and Madonna. Really, if you’re not down with Pharrell, you probably live in Alaska with you-know-who. Also on the HEAT bill, She Wants Revenge, a Joy Division-inspired band who has toured with Depeche Mode and Placebo, and was featured on a Timbaland track. Returning guests Circa Cirvive will make an appearance playing their brand of emo and alternative rock, since having recently featured on the Warped Tour and the Coachella festival. Kid Cudi, a Cleveland rapper, makes his HEAT debut in 2009, appeared on Kanye West’s new record and performed a couple months back with DJ AM and Travis Barker. This year’s HEAT DJ’s include Franki Chan, Andy Caldwell, Colette & Heather.
HEAT sets UCR ablaze on Saturday, February 7th, 2009, keeping standards high in Southern California.
Stay tuned into KUCR 88.3fm for special interviews by KUCR’s Ellie Gomez and Tina Yonas with the team behind HEAT and the artists.

KUCR Radio Spotlight: The Riverside County Philharmonic
Join the Riverside County Philharmonic Orchestra for its spectacular opening concert on Saturday, September 27 as the Symphony Meets the Blues, starring blues harmonica legend, Corky Siegel, performing “Street Music” by William Russo. Also on the bill, Rachmaninoff’s “Symphony No.2.”
The Riverside county Philharmonic is taking orchestral performance to new dimensions, beyond your imagination. This fresh style marks the season’s symphonic opener with harmonica soling by blues-great Corky Siegel. And then, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, a work of lush beauty and controversy. When it was first performed in 1908, one critic, reacting to the music’s naked sensuality, called it “fit only for the residents of hell.”
Tickets via Ticketmaster starting at $10, with a $5 student rush one hour before the concert. That’s September 27 at 8PM at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium for the Phil’s Season premiere as “Symphony Meets the Blues.” For information, call 951-787-0251 or visit the Phil on the web at www.thephilharmonic.org. The Riverside County Philharmonic Orchestra: “music beyond your imagination.”
Mistah Fab Freestyle @ The Barn at UCR
For those of you who got locked out* of the party in The Barn on 20th February: things was bananas in there. Watch:
This, of course, was from the smash success Zion I / Mistah FAB concert put on by ASPB. Dude may have shown up over an hour late, and I don’t know about those yellow bus sneakers, but the young man did put on a show. Of course, there’s some Zion I footage up in here somewhere that I have to dig up as well. Feel free to post this all over your corner of the internets.
And as the video intimates, big things coming in 2008. Watch this space.
*seriously, kids, The Barn is only so big. When we say get there early, we mean it.
