“Cali rapper Nocando’s Hellfyre Club is an assemblage of West Coast art rap luminaries connected to Project Blowed, a long-running hip hop workshop that served as a proving ground for90s and aughts L.A. aesthetes from Freestyle Fellowship and Abstract Rude to Pigeon John. Nocando’s Hellfyre squad includes long time Project Blowed affiliate Busdriver, Midwest emigre Open Mike Eagle, and newcomer milo alongside a cadre of MCs and producers from in and around Blowed and L.A.’s beat scene. They’ve connected for Dorner vs. Tookie, the latest in a series of collaborative mixtapes showcasing a groupwide penchant for tongue-in-cheek self-flagellation and confessional storytelling that quite often metes out both at once” – pitchfork.com
