Ryan Says: Sole – And The Skyrider Band

Sole - And The Skyrider Band

Apparently this CD won’t be getting a whole lot of airplay on your favorite radio station. I do remember Sole doing some cool things.

Ryan Says is a weekly column featuring pithy things that Ryan writes on tape about various records that come in to KUCR.

MIA’s live show is very good.

Real talk. I went to the MIA + Cool Kids show last Thursday. If you can’t afford the ~$30 tickets, don’t worry, I can help you recreate the experience. First, sit real close to the monitor, turn off the lights, and watch this video:

Okay, now imagine that a few hundred people are cheering and waving their hands at various climactic points in this video. That was literally the first three minutes of the MIA set: three massive monitors playing a youtube clip and people screaming and laughing in disbelief at what they were seeing.

UCR Concert – Blu & Exile on 14th Nov

ASPB presents – right off their Summer ’07 release Below The Heavens: Blu and Exile!

Below the Heavens is the debut album by hip hop duo Blu & Exile . Prior to the release, the duo’s DJ/producer Exile had released a solo album named Dirty Science, handled production for the likes of Mobb Deep, and produced two albums as a member of the duo Emanon. For Blu, however, the album is a true debut, as he’s only been recording music since 2004.

Special note from dex: I saw these dudes some time ago, and can personally cosign on this event. The album is nice, and their shows are good. Plus, it’s free! I’ll be there.
